HOGCHOKER LIVE

“Hogchoker are not a band, they are a sensory explosion,” Time Out Shanghai

‘Extraordinary, creative, original and fearless,’ Habibi Records

'A joyously macabre treat,’ Liz Longden, Scotland on Sunday

‘Amidst all this genre blending, bending and splicing, Hogchoker have managed to pull off a blinder... frankly bloody fabulous.’ Shanghai Arts Review

Hogchoker have taken their high energy stage show across China and Japan for over 200 gigs, headlined Shanghai Calling 2021 and 2023, the Shanghai Beernanza Festival 2017, 2018 and 2019, The Last Straw Sunburst Festival (Philippines) and played The Nine (Devet) post-festival shows in Belgrade, Serbia 2019. Their South American tour in 2020 was cut short after three shows in Argentina by COVID. Hogchoker smashed into the World Record books in 2018, recording and simultaneously releasing 7 versions of their debut album in 7 genres (with over 30 extra musicians), and are only the second band from China to be invited to play the Glastonbury Festival.

Flavoured by their Asian, European, British and North American backgrounds they bring a message of social justice, inclusivity and anarchic humour to their explosion of theatrical, energetic punk.

Jamaican reggae legends Max Romeo and Big Youth, and Argentine opera singer Ernesto Bauer, collaborated on 2021’s ‘Roll Up to the Crazy Sound of Hogchoker’.

‘If theatrical punk ska pop with a euphoric jumping beat and slither of a dark underbelly is your thing, then this is your lucky day. A joyously macabre treat here.’ Liz Longden, Scotland on Sunday

‘The most eclectic and entertaining set of songs you’ll hear this year… an album that’ll make your feet and mind leap around like crazy… very interesting, very cool! - my head almost exploded!“ www.addtowantlist.com

'Punk rock slam-dances with swing-jazz, English clashes with Chinese, and a feminist fairytale princess sticks her Doc Martins into patriarchal narrative expectations,’ www.emergingindiebands.com

‘Amidst all this genre blending, bending and splicing, Hogchoker have managed to pull off a blinder... spookily dark in places, wild outbursts of fury in others, simultaneously so celebratory, so joyous, so perversely life affirming… frankly bloody fabulous.’ Shanghai Arts Review

'intricate guitar skills, passionate vocals and a shining light which takes you on a wild journey you can’t possibly forget. They are a fearless act who will have you in absolute awe,' A&R Factory

'Hogchoker are brilliant,' Smart Shanghai
