THE BAND
According to Time Out Shanghai, “Hogchoker are not a band, they are a sensory explosion.” The five-piece band bring jazz, ska, punk, theatre and serious rock licks, flavoured by their Asian, European and North American backgrounds, to a message of social justice and inclusivity, spiced by anarchic humour. Hogchoker smashed into the World Record books in 2018, recording and simultaneously releasing 7 versions of their debut album in 7 genres (with over 30 extra musicians), taking their high energy stage show across Asia, playing some of the most prestigious venues in China and Japan, headlining Shanghai Calling 2021 and 2023, We Are Shanghai Fest 2020, 2023, 2024, Kunshan Duke Music Festival 2024 (Kunshan, China), the Shanghai Beernanza Festival 2017, 2018 and 2019, The Last Straw Sunburst Festival (Philippines 2018), The Nine (Devet) post-festival party (Belgrade, Serbia 2019), playing for the Skeptics Society Conference 2023 (Santa Barbara, USA) and collaborating with Indian producer Sandeep Madhavan on tracks for a Bollywood musical. They are only the second band from China to be invited to play the Glastonbury Festival.
